Sessional GP Zone

Sessional GPs choose to concentrate on clinical general practice, rather than the running of a business.  They can be directly employed as a salaried GP, or independently contract themselves to practices to provide short-term cover as a locum GP.  This section provides local and national guidance to assist doctors working in either of these roles.

Cleveland LMC represents all NHS GPs working within a practice in Teesside irrespective of their contractual status. We are delighted that many members of our CLMC Board are sessional GPs; indeed our Vice Chairman is a very experienced locum GP. As with everything, there is always room for improvement.

Reaching locum GPs is incredibly difficult as we rely on you contacting us in the first instance. Together we can improve communication to ensure that you get maximum benefit from the support we offer. You can learn more in this Sessional GP and LMC Guidance

Sessional GP Information and Guidance

The latest Sessional GP newsletter focuses on IR35 and its impact on locum GPs. Additionally there is a GMC report highlighting GP workload pressures and a blog annualisation concerns for sessional GPs.
